Mary Taylor Joins BABY Director, Participant at San Diego’s MLK Day
February 2023
PVJOBS Executive Director Mary Taylor and BABY Executive Director Charles “Bear” Spratley brought a PVJOBS participant to an MLK Day Parade and Fair held last month in San Diego. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and the local Sheriff’s Department hosted the community event to commemorate MLK Day for the city’s residents.
Local school bands and dancers performed at the MLK Parade, which ended at a route where a community fair was held. The fair featured booths representing more than 50 small businesses, community resources and food vendors. The fair also presented a free concert as well as a special basketball game between a local youth organization and San Diego Police Department officers.
BABY – Brothers Against Banging Youth – is a nonprofit organization with a mission of preventing young people in South Los Angeles from entering gangs to reduce the impact of gang activity on their communities.
