ABOUT
PVJOBS

OUR

MISSION .

PVJOBS is a nonprofit 501(c)3 public benefit corporation whose mission is to provide career-track employment opportunities for at-risk youth, adults and veterans in construction and related industries.

PVJOBS has a unique position within the Los Angeles construction arena. Our organization has served as an active participant in the implementation of local and targeted hiring goals established by Project Labor Agreements and Community Benefits Agreements on major public and private developments in Los Angeles. Through these efforts, we have created sustainable pathways into the middle-class for thousands of Los Angeles residents by providing opportunities for indentureship into registered apprenticeship programs in more than 20 construction trades.

OUR

VISION .

PVJOBS’ vision is to end community violence and poverty.

More than two decades of experience has taught us that coordinated services across multiple domains are required to affect social change. The PVJOBS model incorporates partnerships with more than 130 community based organizations, local, state and federal government, private developers, contractors and construction unions to help us realize our mission of placing at-risk youth, adults and veterans in construction related employment.

The impact of our efforts can be witnessed through a reduction in recidivism, increased employment rates, and pro-social behavior modifications that collectively redefine our community as a whole. In the words of our founding Executive Director Ernest Roberts, “Jobs stop bullets.” This has been the guiding principle that has carried our mission forward, resulting in more than 8,000 placements in career-track employment opportunities for some of Los Angeles’ most heavily barriered community members.
